The Forgiveness Project Toronto
The Forgiveness Project Toronto is a community arts initiative taking place at St. Joseph’s Health Centre from April – June 2020. Our project brings art and mindfulness to people with substance use disorder. As a result, they learn tools to help them overcome feelings of shame and low self-worth.
Shame and low self-worth block our ability to connect with others. Therefore in our workshops, we encourage participants to work with each other as they learn new skills. These skills include meditation, writing, doodling, printmaking and stitching which will culminate in a crazy quilt of torn and stitched, hand-made prints. We will host a public reception in June to showcase the work of the participants.
The workshops are taught by Robyn Alexander, addiction counsellor at St. Joseph’s Health Centre and me. Watch out for our project posts on the TFPTO Facebook page and my Instagram page or sign up for my newsletter. Thank you Ontario Arts Council for funding The Forgiveness Project Toronto.
